The bond with your kids as a parents will always be there, but as our kids grow older they tend to forget us. Because our kids will build their own circle of friends, their likes will be different as soon as they become teens. What we want for them when they were young is not suited for their taste such as the clothes, shoes, movies etc. Building a friendship with your kids is not that easy, you have to be more patience. Once you build your friendship with your kids it will deepen your relationship. |
Here are some of the things that I did so my daughter and I became friends:
Our kids have their own pressure such as peer pressure but it’s normal. All we have to do is listen to them, try to pacify or comfort them. We as parents are having a busy schedule, but we should give time for our kids. The very reason why our children turn to their friends because their friends are always available to listen to their stories. So why can’t we do that to our children? After all we always tell them that they are very important to us and the reason why we are working hard; it’s for their own future. How can we say that they are important but we cannot give even a minute to listen to them?
2. Communicate and understand.
As defined in Wikipedia, “communication is any act by which one person gives to or receives from person information about that person’s needs, desires, perceptions, knowledge, or affective states. Communication may be intentional or unintentional, may involve conventional or unconventional signals, may take linguistic or nonlinguistic forms, and may occur through spoken or other modes.
We as a parents should communicate and understand our children. We have to understand what they want, what they need, what they like.
