I have been working as an Overseas Filipino Worker here in Oman since 2007, it’s my 7th year this coming February 18, 2014. My work is not that easy but not also difficult, I can say it is manageable. Being in a work for seven years, my work become routinely, I can say that I became stagnant. No personal and professional growth. When it comes to salary, I have no complained about it. In fact I am earning double compared to my previous job way back home. But what I exactly want is a job that is really suited for me. I am not saying that I am intelligent nor too smart, what I am trying to say is I want a job that is really challenging, a job that I can apply my knowledge and skills.
Being the head of help desk technical team for seven years is not an easy job; it requires technical skills, managerial skills and personal skills. To be honest, managing a group of multi nationalities is very difficult; you have to consider the culture and beliefs of each person.

I am very thankful that I had experienced in handling and managing people, I was able to apply it on my current job. But the thing is I want to practice again my teaching skills. I am passionate about it. I remember when I was a kid I told my mother that someday I will become a teacher. I want to teach and I know in my heart it will happen which I really achieved. A day after my graduation in 1996, one of the reputable IT colleges in the Philippines hired me as an IT Instructor. I grabbed the chance and I accepted the offer and that is the start of my teaching career. I taught IT and Business subject in different colleges and universities in the Philippines before I decided to work overseas. And it’s been seven years now that I don’t practice my teaching skills.
This year, I am looking forward to go back in teaching so I can utilize whatever gift GOD has given me.
How about you dear readers, friends, compatriot and colleagues? Do you have something to look forward to happen in your life this year? If you do have, go and make it happen.
